*I HAVE BEEN A VICTIM*
PART NINE (Semi Final)
The cock crow filled the environment in a moment in time from a distant direction, croaking and irritating noise from frogs, crickets and night creatures also echoed in hollow spaces and gutters announcing the hour of midnight.
We still laid on the ground motionless as bidden by our masters, and cold in the inside.
All guards assigned to closer areas were now present with their hunts and in all they counted about fifteen guards and our number uncountable. I wondered what spirit subjected all these innocent people to this fate; In my case i was only bound to it by a force over my control- negligence.
The executioners muttered Among themselves; drawn on their horrible faces were undisputable certainty that the hour for the slaughter was due.
In Less than half an hour, after the long discussion between them, they commanded us on our feet;- they spoke to us in a language, though, unintelligibly incomprehensive but unwillingly our bodies succumbed to their words and in a jiffy we were all unseated, lined up and ready for the next word.
Sooner than expected they gave the word and we, riding in our own bodies, matched after a number of guards and before others; the remaining guarded us on the side ways.
We, like zombies walked and walked for hours until the brushing of bushes and cracking of dry sticks beneath our soar feet created the awareness that we had walked the town behind us.
The sound of wind rushing against trees and birds, pitching and ricketing on tree tops filled my ears and a sense of dreadly consternation arrested my motion, my system yearned to break down but the force kept me steady. We were in the middle of nowhere;- the abode for big trees, deadly plants and with no doubt i knew we were in the kingdom of deadly creatures too.
I gave up on hope and faith, i throded under feet, there was no turning back and no saving for our innocent heads.
We were pushed to walk painfully in the thick darkness through shrubs, thorns, bushes and ropes; deep into the forest.
Some of us had our bodies pieced and purged into pains: our dresses were semi wet with blood.
As i went through all these pain and torment both in mind and in body, my memory carried me to the beginning of the day, when i had my liberty and will to choose for myself but i played and made joke of warnings from nature and friends and now my life is in the hand of these fearful executioners .
Willingly would i now have paid heed to any advice: i knew partly from experience and partly from instinct that this kind of antagonising misery would have been but only a nightmare which i would have had the hope to wake up from.
Though we were not in control of our bodies but we were still the object of every pain our bodies were subjected to.
Not long had we reached our destination did my instincts prigged me that we were out of reach of any human abode, the darkness was thick in that part of the earth, even the brightness of their lamps were less effectual. It only shined deemly around a limited area. But it’s lights were enough to portray the nature of the environment before us.
We approached and stopped at a cleared area, it had a big pit dug in the exact middle and a big log waited beside it with blood all over upon it and a stench of rotten carcasses and death were intense all around.
They lined us uniformly in a queue and performed a long ritual and a smelly concoction was sprinkled on our foreheads.
Then In a moment after the ritual it seemed an invincible bond had broken and i had climbed out of a decade of self induced mind oppression, i including all the others now regained control of our bodies.
Some us composed ourselves to run, others to scream but for the first time we understood their language, they spoke to us in clear tone and assured us of our fate and the impossibility of us being saved or heard by any human. The only hope we had left was only a fast and painless death; they promised us that.
The guards were now enormous and their number was dawned on us. There was not way one could even try of escaping and even if escape was a possibility, one would escape only to avail himself as breakfast for wild animals or predators worst than that which stood in front of us.
One of the executioner signaled and a guard pushed the first person in the line towards the log.
The executioner who stood besides the shopping log held in his hands a very big machete.
They pushed the guy to the log and bent him over with hands tied behind, they lowered his head carefully on the log.
*They killed a number of us but something happened which gave us hope* to know what happened Watch out for next episode.
