Every human being dreams of being successful and making it big in life. Now this is an obsession with us women. We wanna make it big but we dont want to take the rocky road to success. We always want to use short cuts.
I was the only biological child to my parents but I grow up with my cousin who was like a sibling and my parents treated her like their own child. I’m from a small mine township known as Mufulira, my name is Mwila.. I was born and raised in Mufulira ……..(born and bread Mufuken).
I was my parents pride and as such I did my level best to make my parents proud. I managed to get good results in secondary school. I scored 14 points which was a good thing. My parents were very proud of me. My father wanted me to study abroad and my mum wanted me to study at any of the varsities here in zambia which I myself wanted as well. I didnt want to go to Copperbelt University knowing how my folks are, they would visit me almost every week thus I needed to be far away from them and Lusaka would be that perfect place. It would be difficult for them to visit regularly.
My father did all he could so that I could be enrolled at the University of Zambia. The day I got the news that I was accepted I was so excited and failed to sleep. When the time to travel to Lusaka came, I couldn’t believe it I was finally going to have the freedom of my life. I only got to visit Lusaka during holidays, it was just for a short period of time plus I was just in doors. My auntie whom I used to visit stayed in Kabulonga, we only went out to buy groceries. Now I will be going to Lusaka for good.
I couldn’t wait to explore the city and everything in it. My folks drove me to Lusaka, my dad wanted me to stay by his sister’s place in Kablonga. I was so much against it. Thank God my mum backed me on that one..Come on people i was going to varsity…. I needed some privacy.
It was difficult to find accommodation in school I had to squat for four days at a family friend while looking for a place of my my own.
I managed to find a bed space at a boarding house just near the school. Got all my things and moved into my new place. My roommate was a third year student, she was pursuing the same course as I so we instantly become best friends. She was beautiful and all curvy. Her name was Luyando she preferred it shortened to Lulu. To make matters worse, she was also from Kitwe.
Welcome to Lusaka Ba Kopala………………………………….
My first day in school was priceless, I felt so good. I was finally working my way towards achieving my goals. Did the registration and went for the orientations. I was loving every moment of it.
There was a fresher’s bash, Lulu asked me to accompany her. The place was parked with so many people. Lulu was dancing and enjoying her moment of life, I felt out of place. I really wasn’t used to such chills. Some tall light skinned handsome hunk tried talking to me I told him off and gave him attitude. Past midnight I dragged Lulu and forced her to go back to our place but she still wanted to have fun. She was very tipsy, I really wondered how she wanted to take the partying to a club in that state. The guy who tried to talk to me earlier on gave us a lift home, he knew Lulu. I guess I will have to call it home because that’s where I will be staying.
The following week I went in school and met the guy who gave us a lift, he introduced himself as Francis. He was a fourth year student in the school of engineering.
Days went by and school was going on well, Francis and I were became close. Francis asked me out, he was tired of being a friend so was I. Assignments and tests were doing me bad. I managed to hammer them all with the help of my man. I was happy with Francis and we started doing all the staff couples do.
He was the the first guy I slept with, he is the one that took the world cup trophy.
Our relationship was going on well, he did his level best to make me happy. Everyone in campus knew I was his girl.
One friday evening Lulu came to our room running and asked me to prepare myself. She was invited to some party in Rhodes Park and wanted me to tag along. I refused, she persisted. I told her I would only follow with bae’s approval. I called Francis, his phone was off I went anyways. Lulu suggested I wear a black short leather dress and heels.
Around 19, Lulu called for a cabbie, we went to some huge house, it was a very big house. It was beautiful too, some people live big I tell you. I have never been to such a big house my whole life. The party was held at the swimming pool. Some hottie’s were by the pool side in their bikinis some were swimming.
I was enjoying my juice and the cool breeze. Some old men were all over girls young enough to be their daughters. Lulu took me to some table full of old men, l’m sure they undressed me with their eyes. Just the way they were staring at me made me feel uncomfortable. I greeted them all and went back to my table. Some white guy in his early forties came to my table and introduced himself as Charles, we got talking.
We talked about alot of things. I was surprised to learn that he was in his late forties and that he was colored and not white. He surely looked white to me, he looked younger than his actual years. We exchanged numbers and he gave me his business card. Just in a night, I learned alot of things about him. He owned his company, he was divorced and had two kids with his ex wife. The kids lived with their mother in East London (United Kingdom).
I got tired and sleepy around 02, Charles drove us to our place. He was driving a red ford renger. Lulu was so excited, according to her men like Charles are the kind of guys I should hang around with. She thought Francis was not man enough for me, I brushed her off. Charles reached us home safe and sound he promised to call in the morning.
Early in the morning I received a text from Charles followed by a call. Shortly after talking to him he transferred kr500 Mtn talk time to my number. I showed Lulu and she asked for part of it. I sent kr200 to Lulu and kr100 to bae.
“Wamona mweiche ( you see) these are real man not Francis who sends you talk time for 10 Kwacha. . . I told Lulu to shut up and go to hell. I guess she doesnt understand what true love is. She doesnt know that what I feel for Francis is unbreakable not even a billionare can shake it. If you ask me I would say its not easily broken.
Bae called me to find out where I got so much airtime. I lied to him that my father sent it to me, I thought of sharing it with him. He sounded not convinced though.
Lulu was pissed off after she learned I sent Francis some air time. I didnt care, it was non of her business anyways.
I went to visit bae later in the day as usual we made love. We slept after exhausting our energies. Charles texted asking for my account number. I sent it to him and shortly I received a message from FNB that my account has been credited with 10 thousand kwacha. I was shocked, I texted back thanking him. I deleted all the messages from the bank and Charles’s. I then put my phone on airplane mode and went back to sleep.
Around 18 bae escorted me to the boarding house. He kept on telling me how much he loved me, how he couldn’t wait to wife me. I was happy hearing those words from him. They melted me in so many ways. Those are the words every woman wants to hear from her man.
Bae reached me home he give me a kiss and went back. I didnt find Lulu, I deactivated the airplane mode on my phone and found missed call notifications from Lulu and Charles. I called Lulu her phone went straight to voicemail, I then called Charles, he cut my call and called back. I lied to him that we didnt have power, my phone went off..
